A plat is a surveyed map of a subdivision showing the division of land into lots, blocks, streets, and common areas, recorded in public records to create legal descriptions for each parcel.

What is a Plat?

A plat (or plat map) is a detailed survey map of a subdivision that shows how a larger parcel of land has been divided into individual lots. Once recorded with the county, the plat becomes part of the public record and creates the legal descriptions for all lots in the subdivision.
